Local enhancement

Enhancement and conversion process images on your Mac without uploading source images or results. The image tools include no analytics or advertising SDK. A paid Pro subscription is required for processing.

Files and preferences

Crispen reads the files you select and writes results to your chosen destination. Originals are preserved. Settings such as scale, format, quality, and output-folder location are stored in your Mac’s preferences. Recent file and folder choices may also be remembered by macOS.

Optional update connections

Checking for updates connects to the Crispen download server on Cloudflare. Automatic checks and downloads start disabled; you can enable them in Crispen Settings. These requests transmit ordinary network information, including your IP address, and the app/version information needed to check compatibility. Sparkle system profiling is disabled.

This download website

The site serves pages, fonts, and downloads from Cloudflare. It uses no analytics scripts, advertising trackers, or account system. Network requests to the host include ordinary connection information. Cloudflare operates the hosting infrastructure under its own privacy policies.

Pro subscription and activation

Stripe handles subscription checkout, customer details, payment information, invoices, and the billing portal. Crispen’s license service on Cloudflare stores Stripe customer and subscription references, a hash of the Pro key, random device activation identifiers, and activation timestamps. It checks subscription status with Stripe. The Mac app stores its Pro key, device identifier, and signed entitlement in Keychain. Verified access can work offline for up to 72 hours.

Short-lived, hashed network identifiers are used to limit abuse of the licensing service. Webhook event references are retained to prevent duplicate processing. Your images are not sent with licensing or billing requests.

Optional cloud Studio

When you explicitly generate or edit in Studio, your prompt and optional reference image are sent to xAI. Included-credit requests pass through Crispen’s Cloudflare service. Prompts and reference images are not saved in the Crispen database. Generated results are temporarily stored for up to one hour for recovery, then expire automatically. Save results to your Mac before they expire. Provider retention is governed by xAI’s privacy policy.

For credits and duplicate-request protection, Crispen stores job references, request hashes, model selections, credit costs, status, provider usage, and billing-period balances. Each subscription includes 100 weighted credits per paid monthly period; unused credits do not roll over. Uncertain provider submissions can require support review.

Your own provider key

Your optional xAI key is stored in this Mac’s Keychain. Requests using that key go directly from your Mac to xAI and are billed by xAI, without using your included Crispen credits. You can remove the key in Studio. Crispen does not receive or store your personal provider key.

Your controls

You can remove exported files in Finder, change the output destination in the app, turn update checks off in Settings, remove your xAI key in Studio, and deactivate a Mac in Pro settings. Uninstalling the app does not remove images you exported.
